I am in a keeper league and we can keep 6 players. I'm trying to decide if I should keep Frank Gore or Laurence Maroney. I don't need to keep them both because I'm also keeping Larry Johnson.

I would keep Maroney. He has proven himself as a dangerous runner and has outplayed Dillion. He will be the starter next year and who knows what dumb move the niners will make this year. Gore should start there, and yes he had a good year, but Im willing to bet a lot more money on Maroney. He is simply good of a player to be playing behind dillion. And this is coming from a guy who hates the Patriots. The wise choice is Maroney. Gore is not bad, but I dont see the production being there next year. The older Smith gets the more pass oriented the 9ers get.

Depending on how your league scores I would keep Frank Gore, seeing as he is currently 3rd in the NFL in yards gained. Now deep into the season I believe that Gore has been the suprise of the league this year (besides Colston) and Gore is looking like the focal point of the 9ers offense. Keeping Maroney would not be too bad of a decision but since Dillion is still in the picture his carries will be split so I would go with Gore!

I would have to say that it is a toss up. I mean Gore is the featured back for a young up and coming team. But on the other hand, Maroney has been lighting it up this season behind Dillon as a back and also a threat as a kick-off returner for a much better New England team. You have to look at which team is going to be better next year, I think its New England. So then go with Maroney because he is probably going to take over Dillon next year. Again, its sort of a personal preference.

Here is an idea for you; keep both of them in addition to LJ. Top RB are hard to find. All 3 of these guys are young and will be stars for years to come. I am sure you can trade either Gore or Maroney in the future for help in other areas. If you decide to only keep one though, I would keep Gore as he is the main man on an up and coming team that plays in a division with weak run defenses (Rams, Cardinals) while Maroney will still split time with Dillion for a while.

Good question... I'd keep Gore.. He and Smith are going to be the future of the niners franchise for many years to come. He's still young but a solid back in all. He seems a little stronger than Maroney so he might be more durable. Both could have great futures in the NFL.

Frank Gore has proven his worth in two straight seasons. Maroney, in his rookie year, has already been hurt twice and is in a system that Belichick could substitute anyone at almost any position to win.

Gore is more integral to SF's success, so go with Gore if you decide to hang onto a second RB

I would keep Frank Gore, and here's why.
Gore has been an outstanding back for the 49ers this year and it's only his second season. He is the primary back, he doesn't have to saher ehte laod with Corey Dillon. Gore is averaging about 100 yards or so per game and he'll get you some touchdowns as well. As the 49ers offense continues to develop over hte next few years, he will benefit. Though he does fumble from time to time I believe with the proper practice and coaching he will stop.

The simple answer is Gore based on this season's stats, and that he's young. of thetwo i'd keep him first for sure. But if you can keep six players, why not keep Maroney as well , and cut one of your other guys? With Dillon on the way out his value for next season is quite high. Runningbacks get injured the most, and if you only keep two you may kick yourself. With six keepers i would definitely keep 3 backs, why not? If i knew who your other keepers were i could say for sure, but i would always keep a high upside runningback over a mediocre reciever. Keep All Three. Good Luck
