Check with your ISP.

A ADSL modem does not have a logon/password parameter like a TCP/IP router, It operates at the transport layer only, it is completely transparent to your OS, GUI and ISP's network. It only modulates/demodulates data onto/off of the SLC subscriber loop carrier. Any network logon/password issues reside in your computer and or your ISP access.

To stop the PC from trying to access the internet via Dial up go into internet explorer ->tools->intern options->Connections and change the setting to 'Never Dial a connection' This should solve main problem If you have set your IP manually you also need to set the DNS this can usually be set to the routers IP

User/pass used in modem to set up modem/routers parameters. its not user to switch on/off u'r internet connection.

if u need to protect u'r internet by user pass then u have to follow other methods. for this u have lot of options. if u'r ISP uses proxy then u can take proxy users and pass. u can protect u'r PC by pass. u can create user account without internet access. let us know what u want.

Turning the modem off and on ? and with a password...kind of defeats the purpose of having broadband.

on the configuration page of your modem there is probably a box for automatic login. uncheck that.

or if you go->start->run-> cmd-> type ipconfig in the blackbox that comes up it will give you your ip.
your modem adress is probablyl 192.168.1.1
