-- (my gas bill) .5480 increased to 1.2410 and (my water bill) 2.0100 incresed to 2.4100 I was just trying to estimate how much extra I going to be paying in the coming months ... Thanks for any help

you have a base = your initial amount
increase

base + increase = final amount
increase = final - base

% of change, ie. percentage of increase:

(increase/base)*100%

increase: 1.2410 - .5480 = .693
(.6930/.5480)*100% = 1.2646*100% = 126,46%
I have frozen when I saw the calculation:
In addition to what you were previously paying, you will actually pay extra month and a quarter. (Actually, more, because 26,46% is more than quarter or 25%.) Meaning, what was previously covering two months and a week, now will cover only a month. In 6 months, you will pay what would previously cover at least a year and 45 days. In the next 12 months, you will pay for two years and a quarter (27 months).

initial amount: 2.0100
current: 2.4100
increase = 2.01 - 2.41 = 0.40

increase compared to previous month:
(0.40/2.01)*100% = 0.1990 *100% = 19.90%
The current bill is ca 20% higher compared to the last one. That's almost an extra week billed per month (30days/5 = 6 days). Which means after every 5 months, you will actually spend for what was previously covering 6 months. And 10 months will cost you a year, etc.
