Well if your doctor doesn't know then neither do we.
I would say that it all depends on what kind of damage the stroke caused.
I would say that until they know what is going on that you hold off on having a baby. Being pregnant is very hard on your all parts of your body, and you want to make sure that it can handle it.

If I were you than I would wait for at least 6 months. Waiting for one full year would be even better. You are still young so you should have plenty of time to conceive if you do not have a problem with your reproductive system which you should be just fine. Have you ever been diagnosed with endometriosis or any other reproductive problem? Anyway, the bottom line is that you need to consider your health and heart health. Thanksgiving was not that long ago. Less than one month ago. Carrying a baby puts extra stress on your heart, blood flow, kidneys and body in general. Your blood volume will need to raise considerably when pregnant. If you feel like your OB-gyn is not answering your questions appropriately than I would look for another OB-gyn. You should feel confident in your OB-gyn. I would stay away from looking for a nurse-midwife as you will be considered high-risk with your cardiac history. Are you seeing a cardiologist as well? I would ask your cardiologist what he or she recommends as well. I'm sure that you really want to have a baby but you want to be healthy for your child. Sometimes we cannot control getting sick but if you can wait for a while before becoming pregnant with your history than I would. Good luck.

Your best bet is to consult a doctor because strokes are very serious and I don't believe anyone here can give you medical advice without knowing your medical history or going to medical school. Good luck!

No one can answer that...only your Dr. If he is being vague, then ask him flat out. He has to give you an answer. If I were you I would wait a while. Sometimes when people have strokes they have more then one in a row. But just talk to him about it. If he still doesn't come out with an answer go to another Dr. Preferably an obgyn. Best of luck!

I would be very careful about that because you are probably taking blood thinners to reduce the risk of stroke again and that is probably not good for a baby. Maybe you need to talk to your OBGYN about it and see what he has to say.

good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you had a stroke!
I would wait if I were you, at least 6 months. Let your body stabilize. And try to find out more about your condition.
best wishes!

If you expect a legit answer(s) you are in the wrong place. Medical advice should come from your doctor, especially one who knows your medical history. Given what you've said and with the family history....what does common sense tell you?

You'll want to talk to an OB/GYN and a perinatologist (they specialize in high-risk pregnancy). If you know there's a family history, you'll want to be VERY careful.

I hope all is well with you and you've recovered completely. Good luck--

If you are not gettin gte answers that you are wanting from your doctor you need to get another doctor...period! There is no reason that your doctor can't give you straight answers to your questions, if he doesn't know the answer he needs to find someone who does!

I'd consult a specialist. Take care if you do become pregnant.
