we are a country of SETTLERSand FOUNDERS....america was a vast empty space with minimal peoples who were content to live off the land subsistently...northern european protestants came here looking for religious, and governmental and monetary opportunities that were not available in the old world under the type of monarchies, tyrants and rulers they had...
our whole nation was FOUNDED by people who related to what was wrong with those societies in europe and determined to make a better one here...based on the rule of law, which is based on the bible..even though our country has no state sanctioned religion...yes..it was brutal at times..pushing "native" peoples out of the way and annexing parts of the continent from france, spain and fighting britain for freedom, fighting mexico for the southwest, and basically stealing alaska from russia for a song...this is what a country must do to survive ....or...we could all be speaking spanish or french right now with their societies mores...

We didn't "push native peoples out of the way" we committed mass genocide and put the survivors in concentration camps called "reservations". We are immigrants, whether forced due to slavery or by choice. The fact that the English language and cultures dominated also have to do with force. That's the problem, now those of us who want the US to be a peaceful presence in the world have to contend with a rather brutal history. To clarify your semantics a little: the SETTLERS and FOUNDERS are IMMIGRANTS.

It is clear that this statement of facts does not settle or repair the brokenness left by our early pioneers, which leaves these generations to answer questions from the past and confuse the meaning for the right of freedom. yet we as a people of our founding fathers can do well at giving back to the people what was taken from them to secure our freedom. just a theory. even though our blood lines are mixed , The white man has been hated from the time they stepped foot on this land and I'm sure other colors of (skin) have made a difference in other lands. I need time to digest what just came out of my mind.

"our whole nation was FOUNDED by people who related to what was wrong with those societies in europe and determined to make a better one here"

WRONG! Your grasp of US history is flimsy at best, but your grasp of European history is non-existant.

The founding fathers were protestant ultra-puritans who found the society of late 16th century England not puritan enough for their liking, so they left for the "new world"....in other words, they didn't "relate" to any supposed wrongs at all, they simply choose to ignore them completely and go. But if it was SO bad...why didn't everyone else leave as well ??

And hey, ...we could all be speaking English right now with its "socities mores" ( ok, we'll just ignore the missing apostrophe, shall we?) Oh, we are, aren't we? What happened there, I wonder....

Listen dude, you stole the land from the Indians (killing and raping many, not to mention disease), you lied and fought bloody wars (and then claim that you found a nation on the principles of the bible!!), and you are a bunch of immigrants from Europe (unlike the Africans who were forcibly migrated here as slaves!). So go sing your holy song to someone who cares or is stupid and naive!

People that think like you are the reason Americans are hated around the world. I wish you'd renounce your citizenship because I'm ashamed that you and I are citizens of the same country.

To survive, you have to exist and America didn't exist. It's not what we did to survive, it's what we did to steal the land away from it's Native owners.

Why, pray tell, did settlers deserve this land more than the native population?

Are you sure? Name me one race that was born here and did not start out with immigrant parents. The "natives" were not "pushed" they were annihilated. "FOUNDED" and determined to make a better world, think again buddy. Please!!!
