Please view this video on YouTube...nothing graphic, just recordings of phone calls...and tell me what you think about it and what you think about the fact that nothing is being done by law enforcement agencies.

I think we can all agree that the actions of the people on these phone calls is wrong, whether we're pro-choice or pro-life. But my real question is; why do you think that no action has been taken by law enforcement? Have they even looked into the training practices for these people who answer the phones to determine whether this is the policy, official or Un-official, at Planned Parenthood? What does this say about social attitudes and fear of the abortion industry's power? What other values will fall to the wayside all in the name of "abortion on demand"? Should it be re-named "Pro-Choice at Any Cost"?

PROTO: Wow...I never thought I'd see someone actually justify the actions of these Planned Parenthood employees. For the record, it is the LAW in all states (and you'll even hear a few of those on the phone acknowledge that they are aware of this) that any adult who is aware of or even SUSPECTS child abuse must report it to the authorities. There is no "option" to make a personal judgment to withhold that information - it is for the police to decide whether the child's safety is at stake. PP is taking it upon themselves to decide what's best for a young child that they don't even KNOW...over the phone!

Also, a young woman under the age of 16 cannot legally consent to sex...what makes you think she is mature enough to decide whether to have an abortion...what makes you think that she is emotionally strong enough to resist pressure or even threats from her abuser to have an abortion to destroy the evidence of his crime? PP's criminal acts are purely driven by the desire for profits.

Well, clearly the organization is trying to limit their involvement in criminal prosecutions (and the associated costs), preferring to keep their focus on providing medical assistance & advice. If the girl or parents wish to press charges there's nothing preventing them from doing so- but that's really another issue. Many girls might avoid going to the doctor or seeking any help because they are afraid of the repercussions from involving the police, and that's clearly NOT in their best interest.

I think the approach taken by PP is a pragmatic one- we live in the real world. Putting the boyfriends behind bars isn't more important than their primary role- the health & safety of callers. Policies which make prosecution the top priority risk endangering young women more than helping them.

Would we call this right? No.

Are they doing what they must, in order to do some good? I think so.

One short thing. Where is the complainant? If there is no complainant there will be no arrest; law being broken, or not. Some one ,unless directly witnessed by police, will have to swear out a complaint against the alleged defendant. You people need to step back and think. Perhaps a class in jurisprudence will help.

PS that is why the people on the other end of the phone kept telling the little girl to not talk about age, so they would have a defense against not filing an appropriate complaint.

you posted this question and this video once before, and of course it is an abomination. A few cannot account for the rest of the clinics. All of those specific employees need to be fired for their bad and illegal choices. That doesn;t in any way mean that the entire Planned Parenthood organization is corrupt. Stereotypes are bad when they come from any side of any argument.

For those who don;t know I am adamantly pro choice.

EDIT: I am a bit confused then Margaret, why didn;t you ask your real question instead of attacking the entire PP organization in your opening line?

I have mixed feelings about this. But it really gives one food for thought.A man that has sex whether protected or not is not a man, but a child abuser and SHOULD be put in jail. Should a child have a child? No I think not.

Maggs, you have sucked the life right out of me. I don't even have the strength to answer even the ...Why is the sky blue? questions any more. I do agree with Sis Moose though. Whty can't you post your entire question outright, rather then baiting people into arguments?
