I'm a college student, and in high school I didn't need to study hard because it all came so natural to me... Unfortunately now, I don't have that luck... I find it hard to study and hard to concentrate. Does anyone have any tips that could help me study better?!?
Thanks for any help!

I found something that helped me tremendously to study. Whenever I would sit down and read for any period of time I would get really tired and lose concentration. So when I study I have to be physically doing something. What I do is while I am reading, I am typing a summary. This helps in many ways because I have to slow down so I pay attention to every word, I trying to summarize the information so I am actively paying attention. While typing I retain more, I can study longer-I need less breaks, and I actually feel like I am accomplishing something. After I type a summary of the chapter, I type questions or summaries of what I just typed.

I'm a college student too and I know exactly what you're talking about. I think the best thing you can do for yourself is to remove yourself from all distractions. I was having the same problem and I figured out that whenever my roommate was around, I couldnt complete my work, but when i had the room to myself, i could! Try going to the library and settling yourself there for a couple hours. Take a friend if you need motivation, but make sure its someone you won't talk to. Also try going to a different place all together like somewhere quiet in the student union or somewhere outside. Whatever you do, stay away from facebook or myspace during study time!

Welcome to the world of being a little fish in a big pond. Many students are in your situation. You were the big fish in a little pond in High school because it did come easy. Here are some ideas:

Set aside time to study and make it a habit.
Make sure your study time is free from distractions. You may have to go to the library so your roommates etc. dont get you off track.

Study when you are fresh, not at the end of the day when the whole world is on your mind.

Take notes during lecture, including questions you have.

Try to associate what you are learning with something you already know.
