What do the Grangerford and Shepherdson families represent and who or what is the target of Twain's satire?

The shepherdson and Grangerford families are fighting with no reason. Their conflict was so far back the alive family doesn't understand the true cause. These people are dying with out a reason. People like that are the target of his satire.
