I am 4 months pregnant and have a low lying placenta, Just wondering if this is normal or should I be worried. My doc said that I have nothing to worry about, But I still do. No spotting or anything. I have only felt some flutters and mainly feel hard spots bout 4 inches below my belly button and wondering if this is the baby moving around or is it the placenta? This is my first pregnancy. I go this wednesday to find out what IM having so I will ask the doc more then but just very curious. Thanks for commenting

There are many places that the placenta could attach itself. I was told that I had a low lying anterior placed placenta. This is just where the placenta is more towards the front of the uterus but yet low as well. They told me that as long as the placenta moved up as my uterus grew then there was no complications. After you go for your ultrasound they will be able to give you some more information. In a normal circumstance the placenta would move up as your belly grows. If not then you may experience bed rest when you are later in your pregnancy. Other then that you are more then likely going to be fine and so will your baby.

A low lying placenta is the same as placenta previa and you can look this up. Your doctor should have told you this instead as it is hard to look up low lying placenta. Placenta Previa (I have it right now too) can be dangerous so many sure you go to all your doctors appointments. About 90% of the time the placenta will move out of the way and it is nothing to worry about. However, 10% of the time it does not move so you will have to have another ultrasound later in the pregnancy at about 7 months to see if it moved. If it did not move that means C-section. If they cut the placenta by accident the baby could be deprived of oxygen and be messed up forever and you could bleed to death therefore untrasounds are very important so they know exactly where the placenta is. I hope I am not scaring you. I have it too and am going back for my 7th month ultrasound in 3 weeks to see if it moved. I hope it did but if not good doctors will be about to c-section your baby with no problem. Thank you and good luck.

I had a low lying placenta at 20 weeks and it has since moved to where it is supposed to be..I'm 36 weeks now. If I remember correctly, I think it's 95% that move on their own. Even with a low lying placenta, your dr may still have you labor on your own if it is not covering your cervix. Good Luck!!

Its ok, Mine is the same. Everything is ok. The doctor will just want to do more ultrasounds to be sure that it doesn't cover your cervix (placenta previa). It will most likely move away or not be a problem. Its just that if it should slip and cover the cervix closer to your delivery date they will want to do a c-section instead of risking a vaginal birth. But @ 4 months that placenta can move up anytime. Your doc will check again around 7 months and if still low they'll check again around week 36 or so. No need to worry.

With my second pregnancy I had bleeding at 13 weeks and my doctor said the I had a small bleed behind my placenta..But I also had a low lying placenta..I was put on bed rest for two months for the bleeding and my placenta moved up on it`s own during that time also..If your doctor isn`t worried about it then I wouldn`t let it bother you...Good luck..

I too have a low lying placenta this being my 4th pregnancy the doc explained to me that sometimes as your uterus grows the placenta can lift off the cervix allowing for a natural child birth, I'm still hoping for a natural birth. I have one more sono at my 30 week check up to determine if it is a possibility for me or else I will have to have a c-section, she advised against rough sex that hits the cervix and to rest as much as I needed.

I had a low lying placenta with my last baby and had to have a Cesarean. It is possible that your placenta will move up as your pregnancy progresses.the hospital will be keeping a eye on you as thy know that this could be a problem

Low lying placenta shouldn't affect your pregnancy. If your doctor is not worried, don't worry. The doctor will just want to make sure that it's not covering your cervix at all. If it is, you may just have to have a c-section.

I had this with one of my two pregnancies, and there really is nothing to worry about. They know how to handle these things. It usually means from what i understand that the placenta is closer to the cervix than normal. But its nothing to worry about as your dr. said. I had a normal pregnancy and a healthy 6 pound 15 oz baby boy. No complications with labor nothing. Things went great. I would trust your dr. if there is something to worry about they will let you know :) GOODLUCK!!
