You will need to take them to the vets for treatment but there are lots of treatments for the hutch to kill any eggs that might be in the woodwork. Alchohol on its own will not kill the eggs.

If your guinea pig has mites, you need to see a vet for treatment.

Mange mites in guinea pigs are commonly treated with ivermectin or revolution. No other chemicals are both safe for guinea pigs, and effective on mites. Ivermectin is by far the more common medicine used for mites.

Mites generally take between 2-4 treatments 7-10 days apart to get rid of. After each treatment, clean the cage, and sterilize it with white vinegar. Sterilize all food bowls, toys, pigloos, etc. as well. Anything that can't be sterilized, like cardboard or wood, needs to be thrown away.

Note: Ivermectin can be purchased and used at home, however, most guinea pig owners are not set up to do so. You need a very accurate scale, oral syringes, and a guide to dosing based on your pig's weight. I would recommend going to the vet over doing it yourself if you do not have these things.

Mites should be treated with either ivermectin or revolution. Ivermectin can be purchased at your local feed store, but if you're uncomfortable with dosing the proper amount, take your guinea pig to the vet.

As for the cage, you can use diluted bleach (half water/half bleach) & then thoroughly wash off with water (or diluted vinegar) afterwards. If you want to be sure you've killed them all, wash the cage with diluted bleach for as long as you're treating for mites.

You will need to see a vet to get rid of the problem. There is certain medication he can give your pet that will clear them up if you are faithful in giving it to him.
