The one I was given seems completely off by at least 2-3 weeks is this possible? I have had 3 ultrasounds and I am 7 Months pregnant. I went to the Dr. and his nurse completely agreed with me. Its just scarry that I could deliver alot sooner than whats expected and its something I really want to know.

I am sure that you are a ware of this but the doctor ESTIMATES your due date by using the first day of your last period. They would use the ultra sound due date if that date has a difference of more than 2 weeks.
Ultra sound determines your due date by the size of the baby. SO if you are having a large baby the ultra sound get your dates wrong. Same if you are having a small baby.
The doctor could get your dates wrong if you are wrong about the date of your last period, or if you are one of the few people that get your period after you get pregnant.
Hope this helped.

What do the ultrasounds say? They are usually pretty accurate but can vary by about one week.
I thought and was told by my doc that based on my menstrual cyle that I would be due on New Years Day. Then I had an ultrasound and it said I wasn't as far as we thought. I am actually due on Jan. 11th. I have now had three ultrasounds and they all say the same thing...Jan. 11th.
Remember...a due date is just an estimate. That baby will come when it is ready! Just be prepared...babies can always come a little early anyway!
Good luck and Congrats!

There's no scientific way to pinpoint your due date, sorry to say. OB/GYNs estimate your due date as 40 weeks from when they assume you conceived, but lots of other factors play a role: the actual conception date, environment, exercise, the baby's growth process, any health problems you or the baby might have or develop...

If you're 7 months in, and the doctor doesn't see any reason to worry, don't worry. Remember that your anxiety affects your baby (it's all hormones and pheromones, after all, and those chemicals, like everything else, travel up the umbilical cord). So don't worry unless there's a reason to worry. Your doctor has probably seen lots of pregnancies go just fine, so listen to his/her advice, get lots of rest, exercise, and nutritious food. Don't take unnecessary risks, and enjoy the next couple of months. Babies come when they're ready.

Congratulations--

Due dates are not an exact science. When you go in for your office pregnancy check they will ask you when the date of your last mensetrual cylce was, they will use this to determine an approximate date that you could have concieved. This of course may or may not be off by about two weeks. Do not let it freak you out that you dont have an actual date. The baby will come when its ready as long as you take care of yourself and the baby.

Unfortunately there is no exact science to it. A lot depends on when you had your first sonogram. If it was closer to your actual conception date it's more accurate. With my daughter I didn't know until she was about 20 weeks gestation so it was very inaccurate. According to my last period I was 22 weeks according to my sono I was 19 weeks. I was given two due dates. March 21 and February 28. My ob stripped my membranes on March 3 to see if it would start naturally. On the 8th I was at 4 cm. He induced that next day. His thing was he didn't want her in there to long or to take her out too early. I would seriously discuss my concern with my ob. I would hate for your child to get sick from being in there too long or have problems for coming out to early. Hope it helps.

well it depends on why you think it is off. Most of the time after an ultrasound they are pretty close in predicting when the baby will be due. Usually within a week or so.

Yes it could be that far off. My doctor tried to tell me I was 11 weeks on my first prenatal visist and I was only 6 weeks. My baby was healthy. If you really know how far along and do happen to deliver early then I wouldn't worry. Good luck!

Usually they're up to a couple weeks off. The early you are in the pregnancy, the farther off they tend to be. I know it's scary, but trust me, it's worth it in the end. Having a puking, screaming, pooping buncle of joy is a gift from above.

haha, sorry. Seriously though, you'll definitly have moments when you'll realize it's all worth the scariness and pain, etc. You'll do great!
