I really need to speak the tagalog dialect. Eto ba ang story ko. I was born in the Philippines, nalalis ako when I was 3 years old. So all my life I was raised in Chicago. I returned back to the philippines in October this year, it has been 6 years since my last visit. Now, I want to return back there ksi, maxado magsaya ko. Bumalik ko sa pinas in December, but I want to make sure when I return back. matatas lang ko magtagalog. Sorry, I'm trying hard to correctly write the Tagalog Dialect. I feel embarassed that I have to speak english to everyone, when I am a full blooded filipino. I feel like when I was there, everyone expects me to speak tagalog tagala. Mahirap naman magsilta Eh.. now, I'm napakratis lang ko every day, I watch TFC, I work on Rosetta stone, I read the english tagalog dictonary, and I chat in tagalog with pinoy kabigan. At least I try. Even though my wrting is not good. But I want to know if I keep up what I do, will I be fluent by next year?

Spend time with someone who can speak it and practice with the person.

you want to be fluent like a native? you're going to have to use the language a lot more. And you'll need to use it with other natives who speak in the right accent or who can correct you if you make mistakes.

The best way to learn is really to use it everyday. Your soo funny with what you right on your story but it really shows the eagerness of you to want to learn to speak tagalog. Don't rush yourself too much, it takes time. And also it's better if you talk to your parents about it, tell them you want to learn how to speak tagalog and that if you talk to them, you want to use tagalog language. It'll really helps a lot.

wow lucky u.i'm here in a foreign land trying to learn and understand british english while you are worried about the tagalog dialect. it's very easy.all you have to do is mingle with your relatives and ask them to talk to you in tagalog instead of english which i know they'll be very happy to do so for you. they'll be laughing at the way you'd speak but they're be very willing to help you go through it. goodluck.

the only way for you to learn fast is to tell everybody living in your house to talk to you in tagalog. that's the best way. by then, you will get used talking in a day to day basis. and you wouldn't have a time catching up in the philippines. every single word in your house should be in said in tagalog.

For sure!

It takes a lot of determination but hey, it's good when you achieve something. And that something is good.

When I was in Malaysia, I was forced to learn their language because nobody speaks English. It was so frustrating that when you ask for a ketchup, they'll give you a soy sauce. Anyway, my point here is, you can achieve everything you want as long as you put your heart on it. I learned their language out of necessity but you'll learn our language because you wanted to.

Mabuhay!
