YOU HAVE TO, or at least face it.
or else, it will stab you at the back.

No. Something can be true, but no proven. For instance a theory or a hypothesis. These are generally considered to be true but there is no conclusive proof.
There are many things that are true, but we humans with our limited minds cannot comprehend them. God, morality, Good and Evil come to mind.
Just think, how many things are out there that have not been proven. Yet they are still true, we just don't know them yet.
Sometimes what we believe to be true is actually false. The truth however is still there unproven. When people tought the earth was the center of the universe and not the sun, it took galileo, copernicus and the rest to prove that is wasnt in fact, that it was the sun. Can one say that before these men the sun was not the center of our universe?
I guess the truth only needs to be proven to us. So that we can have validation.

In my opinion I say both yes and no. Only because in governments like ours your guilty until proven Innocent. And in a lot of cases of just big lies or little white lies it always catches up to you and the truth comes out eventually. So in some cases like government convictions of people sayings that they didn't do something or they did then yes the truth needs to be proven in some of those cases because a lot of the time an Innocent person has been locked up just because they were telling the truth and it wasn't known until years later. So yes the truth needs to be proven in situations like those. But no in situations like in relationships etc. Because there is an old saying "a guilty conscience always shows its self" and the truth will come out. So with somebody telling little white lies after another can't keep up with all of them and they all run together to the point where there stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to figure out should I just tell the truth or try to figure out a bigger lie that I can remember. So it really doesn't matter who the truth comes from in a situation like this it will always come out eventually.

The wording of this question forces the answer to be "no". Truth is a concept; concepts don't have needs.
Human beings tend to seek a true understanding of things; in order to reach that, we need to try vigorously to prove or disprove various assertions.
If you're using the word "prove" to mean "test" (as in "proofing the yeast before making bread"), then the only way to discover whether something is true is to test it.

In order for it to be a conclusive truth, all other options must be ruled out leaving the truth the only possible answer; Hence, there are very few truths in Philosophy. According to Socrates, have all the right questions been asked?

There is truth as in a fact and there is living truth. One can demonstrate (prove) a fact in nature, as science does, because such has limitations; but living (being) truth requires one to go beyond the literal aspect to the nonliteral (spiritual), as such is complete in itself ( wholly within) and requires no watcher or outside witness. The world, being ego, demands gratification (the watcher); the spirit, being nonego, demands nothing, makes no claim on anyone, but just Is. The world is a fact, which requires a demonstration to validate, but the spirit is living (being) truth, which knows thyself.

The truth exists wether it is proved or not. But when you want a person to realise it you will have to show it to him in the manner he understand it. Perhaps thats the reason that it has to be proved (for that particular person).

Truth is relative. So if there is a contention, it definitely needs to be proved.
It's like convince me or get convinced.
