Darker colored jeans are good for leaner. Trouser style jeans are good for making you look taller. As far as the butt... depends on the size, you have to look at the pockets. make sure they aren't way too big or way too small. no pockets will make you look like a bubble butt.

To look leaner, I have a pair of stretch bootcut jeans in a dark wash from Old Navy that I love. There's a teeny bit of fading on the thighs, keeping the look casual, but not so much and so obvious that they look cheesy and unflattering. The pockets are a tad bit bigger and positioned in a way so that they don't make my wide butt look even wider. And I always wear them with a pair of high heels (at least 3" or more), preferably a stiletto or stacked heel.
To look taller, I have a pair of wide, straight-leg trouser jeans in a dark, unfaded wash that I wear with a stacked heel or wedge and a slim fitting top to keep everything balanced.

I'm a fan of flare jeans. They accentuate the curves of your body and don't give you this V-shape if you opt for more of a straight-leg jean. The flares will give you more of a ) ( shape and seem to do well making a heel a little less discreet if you want the taller approach as well. Sometimes a big shoe sticking out of a boot cut isn't wonderful. Kinda dumpy looking (in my opinion) but with the flare it works out perfectly. Try on a pair. You'll be hooked.

I always get jeans that require at least a three inch heel. Wide legs pants will only make your legs look shorter. Also, I make sure that there are jean pockets (it shortens your butt) and make sure that my shirts come down at least three inches past the top of the jeans.

i would say flare jeans a medium color and the have to have pokets on the butt part oh wear heels with them that will make you look taller and it looks great too
