There is literally thousands of music videos, movie clips and other similar copyright material. How come you never hear about the entertainment industry taking action against youtube? This is more of a curiosity than anything else. Thxs

Well before Google bought YouTube it was seemingly ignored, since the entertainment industry probably had "bigger fish to fry". Now that a company of caliber and money owns it, a lot more clips seem to disappear and are taken down due to copyright, in my opinion since Google could pay up in a lawsuit, whereas the previous owners couldn't. Perhaps they're not as efficient at controlling it yet, but they have been taking down a lot of clips (unfortunately for us viewers).

Scuze me? Nearly ALL material on youtube is copyrighted by somebody. The only question is whether the person who owns the copyright is the one who uploaded it. If it ain't yours, meaning you were not the producer of the video or sound recording, and all underlying music and lyrics, then you would need a license. Just because nobody heard of it doesn't make it "free". That's like saying you don't have to stop at a stop light at night when there's nobody else around. It's still a violation.

Youtube screens for offensive content, but the video themselves are the responsibility of the "owner"
