It's a very interesting idea. Keep in mind that I am a conservative who supports the war, but that idea has some merit as I also believe in accountability and fiscal responsibility. I suppose some sort of national sales tax would be best.

On the other hand, decisions about wars would be based on opinion polls, and that's NOT a good thing.

No, they just recently removed the war tax from the Spanish American War (1898) from our telephone bills. Further more, Congress has made no formal declaration of war and the majority of Americans do not support the Iraq war which is depleting the large majority of our military budget.

Support your own country and the legal citizen first! Congress has any amount of money printed it desires,seed money, earmarks & corporate welfare etc that 100 folds any money givin to our own legal poor Americans! You need to have your priorities straight! We are very much involved in a world high-tech industrialized competition. Oil is a considerable factor at this time but a country like China is whom we have to out-wit! Bring back the draft in a big way NOW!
