They call it Hamburger because the idea for it originated in the German town of Hamburg. It has nothing to do with pigs or cows. These days, its mostly shortened to a burger and of course if its made out of anything other than beef, they tag it as a Turkey Burger, Veggie Burger, Tofu Burger, etc.
