As a college professor who teaches both on-campus and onine, I can tell you that the answer to your question is both yes and no.

Yes, there is some value to a correspondance or fully online degree so long as it's from a reputable school, because you're getting formal training. But in my opinion, it's always best to have some classroom experience because your professor knows you're actually doing the work and can vouch for your mastery of the material.

With online learning, I just don't know that YOU are actually doing the work. For all I know, you could simply be having someone else doing it or just feeding you answers. But in a classroom, I can see firsthand that YOU are the one doing it and understanding it.

And FYI, some schools even put a notation on either the degree, the transcripts, or sometimes both, indicating that it was done online.

Now if you do decide to go the online route without any classroom at all, then I would definitely suggest you get your degree from a legitimate and reputable school. Otherwise, your money will be simply thrown away on a school that carries little or no weight whatsoever.
