Go to dell.com and enter your Service Tag into their memory configurator. It will tell you if you can add memory and what type you need to purchase. There's a link below.

Go to http://support.dell.com
Go to Manuals and enter the express service tag from the bottom of your laptop.
View the service manual
Look under Memory
Will be a simple step by step with pictures on how to add memory
You will want to follow them to see how many memory slots you have in the computer and whether they are both full
If you have an open slot, you can simple add more memory to what you already have.
If you do not have an open slot, you will have to remove the existing memory and put in larger memory chips
You can purchase the memory from Dell, or get the part number and take it to Best Buy or other electronic stores and they can match the memory for you.

It depends on your model, but most Dell laptops have a door on the bottom marked "M" for memory. Open that up and put the new stick in. If it is full, there is sometimes another slot under the keyboard.

hey ,
the best way i think is , you should take it to a private computer shop , so that the person knows what type of memory he should add (DDR OR SDR) depending on ur laptop , moreover make sure you read you manual sometimes , operating the laptop can void your warranty.
If you are talking about a "HARD DRIVE" then too you should follow the same procedure , becuase it too consists of procedures which a computer literate should do , moreover its better if he does it.

Not enough information, however your manual should have all the directions and warnings about voiding your warranty. I you don't have a manual you can probably find it online.
