Who makes the best music between us Brits and the Americans?

There is lots of American music that I like. Sometimes, all you want a bit of hip-hop or some catchy tune to sing along to and America supplies that. But I have to say, the most talented musicians generally come from Britain. Look at bands like the Stones, The Kinks, The Beatles, Cream and more modern stuff by the likes of Radiohead. Oasis and Chris Martin (he might be aplonker but he is still a talented musician). Having said that, the likes of Placebo and Green Day are great too but given the size of Britain, I think it wins.

hahaha,funny question indeed. It however depends on the standard, is it best to the audience or best to the Critics. Then I will tell you, think of a British artist and think of an american aritist(popular ones), Chose countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia and ask audiences whose is better. I bet many people will not recognise British musicians. Anyway, the few successful Brits run to America, where the trend is determined

Although I am an American, I would have to say that the UK beats us in the music scene. Around here, styles linger for years and years while musicians in the UK are constantly changing their style and coming up with something new. The music scene in Europe moves light years faster than the US music scene.

The USA with the UK a close second (despite the Beatles, Cream, Stones, Judas Priest, Dusty Springfield, Eurythmics, etc).

I am from UK ,,,we had nothing but crap for the last 7 years ...US has plenty different types of music ...some i like some i don't like ..but in all ..many to choose from so US wins hands down ...don't grind your teeth

if we are talking about heavy metal and hard rock here.....
in the UK we invented it, so we were the best at it....
take a look at such bands as;
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Venom (inventors of black and thrash)
Saxon
Motorhead
Def Leppard
Diamond Head
although the US have some GREAT bands.... the Uk ones were the inventors
