Hi I have 3 children and had this problem with my middle child. I went to the doctor (as you should) and he said that it was one of 2 things, reflux or expelling. Reflux is usually something that they have right from birth and they sometimes have tummy ache because of the acid. It sounds to me like expelling, which is what my daughter was doing. Unfortunately I was being a over loving mother and over feeding her and she was basically just expelling what food she didn't need/want. Either way it is just something babies do. Take him to the doctors to put your mind at rest, most likely nothing. Good luck and enjoy that little boy.

He may have reflux. - it's basically like acid heartburn caused by the top of the stomach not closing properly. You can see them almost gulping and grimacing when it comes up. It also makes them chuck up a lot and other symptoms include frequent hiccups and smelly nappies but nothing in them. The good news is most kids grow out of it as they get bigger and also as they start eating solid food. Being upright during and after eating can help too. put infant Gastro reflux into google and have a look at some of the sites to see if it looks familiar. If it does go to the GP and ask for infant Gaviscon. It goes in their milk and hleps releive the symptoms

Possibilities:

Eating to much.
Not burping enough.
Reflux.
To much activity after he feeds.

Questions to ask yourself:

Is this something that has just began?
Have you increased his food intake?
Are you introducing new foods: rice cereal, jar foods, juice?
Did you change his formula?

At 4 months my dr. said to start introducing rice cereal, juice and baby food. My son is 5 months now and we give him rice cereal 2 times a day less then a 1/4 cup each time. This helps keep him fuller during the day and night. Also he is allowed less then 2 oz of juice a day and ONE SMALL gerber stage 1 jar of food. Even though he is allowed juice and food we dont give it often. I breastfeed and I never know just how much he gets per feeding.

You may be giving the baby too much. Try cutting down an ounce or two on the milk. Also try smaller jars of food if your doing this. I notice my five month old does this only if we move her around or she moves herself. Enfamil has a new formula out. I bought it but I'm saving it for the plane ride to see if it will work with her.

well if he is formula fed then it may be the formula. Mine had the same problem and they switch him to isomil advance which is a soy based formula and he quite throwing up. If he is breast fed then he may be allergic to something you have been eating. If he is crying all the time and seems to be in pain then he more than likely has acid reflux and you need to discuss that with your doctor.

A friends grandson was just doing the same thing. He was not gaining any weight. He was VOMITING, not spitting up. Spitting up a little is normal. But, if it is vomit, get him to the doctor's immediately. This baby did have pyloric stenosis. If the family had waited one more day the baby would have died. Don't mean to scare you, but vomiting is NOT normal.

Are you burping him after each feeding? How about Holding him at an angle when you feed him? These things can help. If its projectile then hes sick and should be taken the to ER or doctors ASAP.

If it is literally everytime, and you're concerned about him keeping anything in his little body, call the doctor. You may need to switch formulas once or twice before finding one that his tummy will agree with.
