i love it cause i can keep in contact with friends and family that dont live in the same city as me... it gives me something to do when im bored....

I think it represents the downfall of our society, actually.
1) It encourages teenagers to sit on their asses and get fat and lazy, instead of going outside and DOING something.
2) It gives the illusion of relationships and communication when the teenagers who are on it all the time are actually socially isolated and becoming cross eyed from staring at the screen so long.
3) Have you ever seen the typing on some of those things? I highly doubt most of the kids today can even form fully functional sentences anymore. It's as bad as text messaging.
4) It increases the access of pedophiles to young naive kids who neither realize, nor care, that what they say and what pictures they post are being broadcast into cyberspace. Hello! That 16 year old girl from Australia who's so nice? Probably a 40 year old creep who lives across the street from you.
I could go on and on and on.....
I feel bad for the teenagers today. What happened to going out to meet your friends and doing something fun? My 17 year old sister makes a break for the computer everytime there's a pause in the conversation around our house. It's disgusting.
And I'm only 25! I suppose being in University has dulled my perceptions. All that education and socialization with real friends blocked out what was going on in the world around me.

The site it's self was a great idea... however, some people aren't using it as one. It has been involved in rapes, kidnapping, and murders, all because parents and their teens/preteens don't think about saftey. I use it to keep in contact with people I know... so I don't keep personal info on my profile, and I never talk to strangers. It's all in the people...

i only use it to keep in touch with friends and family in the states, but it can be used for dating and other stuff. I don't have a problem with it, it is good for what i use it for
