You should give it 1 or 2 flakes according to its diet and size.

I think if you go by pounds it's 15 % of their weight or something. Basically, I'm pretty sure that a 1,000 pound horse gets 15 lbs. of hay a day, so you can figure out that percentage with your pony. Hay depends a lot on the climate, if the pony is still grazing at all he obviously needs less and he gets less if he has grain too. I'd say 2-3, maybe even four flakes (grass hay) a day if you have a really cold climate and depending on flake size. If you are in a warmer climate 1-2 will probably do. He probably doesn't need alfalfa but give him even a little less if he gets it. Also, some common sense can be used. If he always goes crazy for the hay and starts to get skinnier, he probably needs more. If he's not finishing all his food and gaining weight, a little less can be used. It will also vary on how big of a pony he is. He should be fed twice a day as well.

The amount of hay will depend on the ponies size and if he grazes during the day on grass. You also need to be careful giving a small pony to much grain. Start him out with 2 flakes and if he finishes it by morning he may need a little more. Make sure he is wormed on a regular basis and keep an eye on his weight. Commen sense plays a big part.

That depends on the pony and how much work he is getting. A lot of ponies tend to gain weight by eating very little, and others are fine on a little more food. Assuming you feed your horses twice a day, I give mine two flakes in the morning and two at night (a good sized flake should be about four inches in width). That amount works well for them on the amount of exercise they are getting and because of their metabolisms. If your pony is a healthy weight right now, I would try starting him out on two flakes in the morning and two at night and see if he gains or looses weight or stays the same. If he gains weight, you may need to reduce the amount of hay he gets, and if he loses, he might need more. If he is a little skinny right now, I would maybe even start him off with 2 AM PM and see about feeding him hay at lunch time too. If he's a little chunky, you may want to start out with just one flake in the morning and one at night and go from there. Feed rations sometimes need to be adjusted over the course of a year. Good Luck!

The horse should get 1-2% of his body weight per day in hay.
Depends on the size of the flakes.
We feed our 1000 pounds horses free choice but ponys tend to eat to much and get fat easily.
I would start off at about 1% of the body weight.
If the pony weighs 800 pounds feed about 8 pounds split is into two feedings.
Watch very closely to see how the pony maintains body weight if he starts to look thin up the hay intake slowly until you reach an amount where he maintains his weight.

Equines should be fed the same amount as 2% of their weight daily of which 20% must be hard feed and 80% forage ie the hay. You can therefore figure it out from the weight of the pony. For example a 13hh pony weighs about 375kg so should be fed 7,5kg daily of which 1.5kg will be hard feed and 6kg forage which is equal to 3 slices of hay.

Take it's weight and divide by ten, for example, a 800lb pony would eat 8 pounds of hay each day.

depending on size and your climate it will vary - if your in a cold climate i would give it 2 in the winter and 1 in the summer - see how this works - remember its okay to feel the ribs just not see them.
