I don't understand what you mean by 'what do I do?'. Honey, if she got into an accident yesterday then she is the care of a hospital. Just visit her and be with her during this time.

Our 83 yr old grandma had an accident that caused a spinal injury 3 years ago, here's some stuff I learned; your grandma probably takes medications on a daily basis, her normal docs need to be contacted and you need to make sure her injury docs are aware of, and continuing to administer, her usual meds. Is she in the hospital? She will be on drugs, and won't understand, or be able to make decisions for herself. Set up a family rotation system so someone is at the hospital EVERY day. If someone can be there in the a.m. and someone in the p.m., that is best. Since your grandma is probably pretty out of it (head wise) the family needs to be her advocate. Talk to the docs, find out what meds she is on, find out what treatment and rehab she is doing and will be doing. After she leaves the hospital will she be going to a rehab center? Research this NOW! What are the best ones in your area. If she is going to commute for rehab therapy, set up a schedule so she can be driven. What about food and care when she goes home? Who is going to stay with her? Or will she stay with a family member? Go to the hospital, take magazines and be there for her. I often spent 9 hours sitting in the hospital. You never know when you'll have to make a decision for her, or just be there for her.

EDIT Addition: You don't say how old you are, or if she's in the hospital, but here are some more practical things you can do; does her newspaper need to be put on hold? Who is going to pick up and deal with her mail and make sure the bills get paid? Does she have any pets? Who is taking care of them? What at her house needs to be taken care of? Your parents are going to be major stressed, so can you do some extra housework to free them up so they can deal with your gram? Once you get started being helpful, you'll find there are a TON of things you can do.

I am sorry to hear about your Grandma.

Visit her and talk to her on the phone as much as you can. She needs to feel needed right now (us Grandmas are not accustomed to being in a sick bed).
She will have some difficulty during recovery. Us old folks don't mend as quickly as you young ones do. So be there for her as much as you can--especially once they send her home.
Above all, just make sure you let her know how much you love her and need her. Grandmas never get tired of hearing that.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. The Creator willing, she will get well.

I would just ppend time with her, as much as you can, and pray to the Creator to heal her broken body.

I will put her in my prayers as well.

Depending in her age, sounds like grandma may need to quit driving.

Really, not much you can do except be there for her and make sure she does what the Dr.'s tell her to do.

Well, not much you can do now but put her down. That's what I would do if it was one of my horses. The left leg and right ankle are never gonna heal right to be of any use. Just tell the vet to come in and put her out of her misery
