Ok, So my husband and I were eating at a restaurant last night and as I was eating my salad I bit down on an object in salad. It was a nose ring! Evidently the person making the salad lost it while making my salad. The manager told me that he would pay for my dinner even though he knew that he didn't have too. I am also wondering if there are any health risks. The ring was sharp and hurt. But can any dieses be past?

Well it can't be healthy, but I don't think you're gonna to catch anything because of it.

But that is seriously disgusting...

Wow, thats a little gross!
The resturant manager got off really lightly only paying for you meal!! I bet he was real nice to you? You could have reported the resturant to heath and safety and kicked up a lot more of a fuss.

I'm not sure about diseases that can be passed. I would say that its highly unlikely. There would have had to have been blood on the nose ring or other bodily fluids on the ring. You said it was sharp and hurt. Did it cut the inside of your mouth?

A nose ring in your salad is highly unsanitary and its more than likely that there were germs on the nose ring as it was going through someones nose, a mucus membrane.

I would say that germs can be passed on but diseases unlikely.

I hope you are feeling ok.

The manager did have to pay for your meal! He knew he was getting off lightly but only doing that.

I'm sure the person with the missing nose ring got into trouble and I am sure that they also feel really embarassed.

That is totally vile. The salad maker should be fired. That is horrible for business. My husband once found a live grasshopper in his salad, but that is not nearly as gross as a nose ring.

You probably won't catch anything from it, so I wouldn't worry too much about it - just avoid that restaurant in the future.

You should be aware that staph bacteria loves to live in the nasal cavity and staph is quite a hardy bacteria. You could ask your doctor to do a culture to check for this. Although I personally do not believe in law suites, I do feel strongly that you should report this to the health dept. Obviously this restaurant needs to make some serious changes within their kitchen

i have worked in restaurants and you are not allowed to wear nose rings while working. Obviously that restaurant could care less about their patrons. sue them...that is disgusting.

sue sue sue people should not be wearing jewelry while in the kitchen at a restaurant. i used to manage one and never let anyone wear jewelry unless it was a wedding band and then they had to wear gloves. yes there could be a health issue. contact the health department and tell them what happened. then contact your lawyer and sue. people should be punished for not following health laws concerning the publics food.
