well, the best give away is that you see the person in the act: playing games. if you are talking abt how do u tell if a person has been playing too much game..
basically, the person will be very sleepy, cos all their energy was spent ingame, and they tend to want to stay home more with their games (or are forever in the mist of a handheld)

If they are shouting out random obscenities, then they are probably playing a video game, and badly at that.
