What does this country stand for any more? We are not even free to celebrate hollidays. Will someone try to sue me for putting a tree in my yard because I don't also put a symbol for every other culture. These types of issues is what causes racial tensions. I think it was very irresponsible of the Rabbi that did this.

If you want to be upset, be upset at the airport.

No-one was suing or threatening to sue. A rabbi asked to put a menorah in the airport--even offering to pay for it. The airport immediately said no and removed the trees. No one ordered, or even asked them to. Even the Rabbi in question was upset about the removal of the trees.

If anyone is irresponsible it is the airport. They sent a clear message that non-Christian faiths are not welcome, they overreacted and chose an unnecessary and divisive "solution", and they made it seem like Jewish religous leaders were trying to ban Christmas--creating negative feelings towards the Jewish faith.

Someone at the airport should be paying for this with their job.

I would be more upset with the airport for caving in to his demands. They SHOULD have offered to add displays celebrating the holidays of other faiths ALONGSIDE the Christian display - but noooooo, that would cost money.

I don't know the story very well, but I would assume the rabbi was upset they had a display for only one faith and not the others, in which case the solution above would have been satisfactory. If that's not correct, and he's just another one of these people who think the world should be guided by statements like "I'm offended by X and that's more important than your freedom of speech, so I want to see someone change X or I'm gonna make a stink" etc., then he needs to be whacked upside the head with a wet fish. That approach to life has no place in a free society.

The ideally suited courtroom has held that a Christmas tree isn't a non secular image, yet somewhat a mundane image. I haven't any concern with that selection, as a liberal. non secular lodging, such because of the fact the footbaths you communicate with, have long been upheld by using the courts. I additionally haven't any concern with lifelike non secular lodging. be careful the variety you categorize human beings’s ideals. The ACLU, for occasion, has fought for the rights of evangelical Christians to evangelise on the sidewalks of the Strip in Las Vegas. the guy rights being risk-free could analyzed in context. additionally the information of the Seattle airport controversy have been that a nearby rabbi needed a Menorah additionally displayed and the reaction of the Seattle airport became into to get rid of the Christmas timber. That became into purely stupid.

I think they can only burn your tree, but, they can not sue.
It not bother me too much. It is sad that one person's freedom can take away another persons freedom. It not bother me when people had Jack-o-Lanterns on Halloween and it not bother me if a Buddhist has a Statue at work. But, I think the underlying reasoning is a turning away from God. I know many Christians will Hoot, Holler and Cry because they believe the Christmas Tree is pagan. Ooh! But, look at how many see the Tree. Many see this as a symbol of Christianity!!! So, THIS why they want it removed. Anything that has any hint of God from a specific Religion point of view must be removed. As we move toward a one world religion (Not sure what it is, I have ideas) we will see this more and more. I find it exciting as Bible Prophecy tells me this will happen and it tells the results too. Results that not good for Children of God or the World actually. ;-)

Yes...how stupid is that...we had the same thing happen here when we had a jewish MAYOR in charge...all of government had to refrain from saying "Merry Christmas" and the Christmas tree had to be re-titled and became known as "the holiday tree".

How stupid. Who the hell are these people?

Now I'm not prejudiced but excuse me, the jewish and orthodox get two christmases and other holidays paid for that we CHRISTIANS do not...they demand respect from us, and yet our traditions have to be removed because it's offensive to some stinking Rabbi? Shove it up your azz.

Don't stand for it.

It's your holiday and proclaim and shout MERRY CHRISTMAS...and if they don't like it...tough beaners.

At this moment in time, Christmas is the only religious national holiday. In my opinion, Christmas trees, the baby Jesus etc... should be the only allowed items displayed in public places.

Actually he just wanted them to add a menorah or he'd sue and they decided to take the trees down instead. Next thing you know the KKK will want to put up a burning cross and then things will get out of control.

It's only an airport.

Well it is one thing to wish to be represented. But if it not your holiday, then you should shut up. I have no problem with anyone erecting whatever symbol they want to as long as it is not on my doorstep. If my neighbor decides to put up a blow up satan clause, yes I said satan...then that is my neighbors perogative. I do not have to worship it or even give it more than a cursory glance. But I do not have the right to tell him to burn it or take it down because it offends me, or to threaten him with legal action if he doesn't put a nativity scene next to it.

Are the trees real or plastic? Why are we letting people tell us what we can't do? Who actually writes their congressmen and women to tell them what they think?
