Force of mind vs. mind-controlling nerve gas, eh...? Ok, here goes:
Grodd's mind is extremely advanced, even more so that a numan mind. He may be as advanced as Captain Comet, just that his specific mutations were in his mind, not his body.
The Purple Man (and his little girl, too!) emit from their pores a nerve gas derivative that deadens the will centers of the brain and leaves people suggestible so that they will follow verbal commands given them. Most nerve gasses are powerful acetyl
choline esterase inhibitors. (Don't just take my word for it-- look it up.)
However, there are some significant diffeences between the simian brain tissue and the human brain tissue. I would be willing to bet that PM's power might not be as effective on Grodd as it is on human beings.
Besids which, Grodd always has contingency plans, and the Purple Man (as I recall) has overspecialized, depended too heavily on his one power. Grodd has teleported his mind into another species when his body was imprisoned, until his mind began to change the body in the species he was more comfortable with. I.e., Force of mind is more powerful than evolution!
Suppose Grodd had implanted in his own mind post hypnotic commands not to obey anybody else's orders, or to play along until he could turn the tables It would be just like Grodd to do that.
I shudder to think of what Grodd would do to the Purple Man when he got his opposable thumbs on him...!
