My wife is Italian, and I am Irish and we live in Italy. Great country for a holiday - two weeks maximum. Terrible place to live. People are rude, phenomenally ignorant of their own history and culture, and cannot even speak their own language well. The TV is the worst in the world, bar none. As a foreigner, you get ripped off everywhere you go. Read Tobias Jones' book 'The Dark Heart Of Italy' for more information.

Rome only. By the way, Italian men are the number 1 nationality that travel to Ukraine for wives. If you want to get a train ticket from Italy to Ukraine you have to wait 3 months!

Definitely! Pisa, Cortona, Cortina, Orvieto, Mantova, Bologna, Siena, Vieste, Amalfi Coast, Gargarno Peninsula, Sardinia, Sicily- it's such a wonderfully varied country, there are historical and natural treasures everywhere - not just in the obvious places!

Yes - Sorrento! Great place. Very convenient for Vesuvius and Pompeii (and Herculanium) and er....Naples! Italy is something else. I can't wait to go back for another 2 weeks of total chillin.

Italy is easily one of the best countries in the world. Culture runs deep, and the people are easy on the eye! sorrento is nice. If I HAD to leave England for any reason, Italy is a country I would be proud to adopt as my own. Belissimo.

Of course, avoid the top tourist places and see the real country.

I'd never go during holy week though.
