are there any book publishing companies to send manuscripts and short stories and poems to.?

i feel that i have a pretty good story to tell and want to know if there are any publishers out there that will seriously help me without helping themselves to all my money.

For publishing companies, check for the Literary Market Place or the Writer's Market at your local library. Both titles list publishers and their areas of interest. You may also look for an agent in the Writer's Digest listing of literary agents. Not all libraries own these titles, so you may need to check with your local bookstore if the library doesn't have them.
