The best teams have a consistent philosophy and identity that they keep in place no matter what. The Steelers have always been about great defense and pounding the ball with the run. Sure, they've had their off years, but they consistently field a competitive team year in and year out. The Patriots have in recent years been about developing talent from within, signing role players as opposed to big name free agents, and allowing their big free agents to sign elsewhere. This model has kept the focus on the team as opposed to individual players, and has brought New England great success. Since Mannings arrival, the Colts have been all about lighting up the scoreboard and forcing the other team to try to keep up. This has allowed them to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders on a consistent basis.
The Redskins once had such an identity. They were all about solid defense led by extraordinary play in the secondary and at the linebacker positions. They also fielded the best offensive lines and ran on opponents at will, allowing the run to set up big pass plays. This allowed them to be quite dominant throughout the 80's and early 90's and earned them 5 trips to the Super Bowl with 3 victories.
Since the arrival of Dan Snyder, the Redskins have lost their identity. His success in life has come at the corporate level, and now he tries to apply the corporate model to his management of the Redskins. That being, if it doesn't produce immediate results, change it. We're constantly shifting personnel, bringing in big name free agents who are either past their prime, too selfish too play as a time. We're constantly changing the coaching staff, confusing our players by forcing them too learn new offensive/defensive schemes every other year. He has created an environment that rewards exceptional individual effort at the detriment of the team.
That said, I actually believe that the Redskins are on the right track right now. Snyder appears committed to keeping this coaching staff in place as it is. This is the right move as the current staff is pretty good regardless of our record this year. We are more than set at running back. Campbell is improving every week, and I'm certain that Al Saunders will open up the playbook in a way that allows him to take advantage of the talented corps of receivers next year. Brunell's deficiency's forced a superb group of wide-outs to look pretty ordinary this year. And yes, the defense has been horrible this season. I doubt that the sloppy play will continue into next season. Greg Williams is the best defensive coordinator in football. The talent will be upgraded in the offseason through the draft and possibly free agency. As long as Snyder doesn't see fit to make wholesale changes like he does nearly every year, the 'Skins should be pretty competitive next year

Much like The Lions, your front office is TERRIBLE!
Dan Snyder has no idea how to build a team. Just because you have millions and millions of $$$$$$ doesn't mean you know how to build a winner.

Also the fact that Joe Gibbs has about 40 other coaches on the sideline. Just give Gibbs an offensive and defensive coordinator, a special teams coach and a line coach like he had in his championship days of the 1980's and early 90's.

The Skins just signed Betts to a 5 year deal. He's proven he can handle the load. The Skins should trade Portis while he's still worth something and grab some draft picks.

I don't think the Redskins would suck so much if they had a different owner. Snyder is just like Jerry Jones was before he hired Bill Parcells. These guys are too invloved in the football operations of the team and they don't know anything about football.

Gibbs has failed to adapt to today's game. Betts was running all over the place yesterday. When the 'skins got down inside the 10, they pulled out Betts and put in Duckett. When that didn't work, they tried to pass. Gibbs had no understanding of what was taking place on the field. They Eagles were outplayed on both sides of the ball. Gibbs was outcoached by himself.
I'm an Eagles fan, by the way.....oh yeah Dallas sucks...

Your coach was good in his day, but his old style of playing is something of the past. I am a Cowboys fan and I feel the same way about Parcells some of the time. I mean look the coach of New Orleans, his play calling last night was right on key. New Orleans handed my Cowboys their "you know what" on a silver platter last night and guess where the New Orleans coach came from - Dallas. That is what they said last night, that he was an assistant to Parcells at Dallas.

I may not deny that I have complained approximately the unlevel gambling subject in baseball, however I under no circumstances ***** or blame the Yankee fanatics for it, or the money spent by way of the staff to head out and get the first-rate gamers they may be able to get. Yeah, it isn't a laugh for small marketplace groups, however it is no motive to take it out on the entire die-tough unswerving fanatics of the Yankees who simply desire their staff to win like I desire the Brewers to. They simply have extra equipment to do it. I might LOVE a revenue cap in baseball. Oh, and sure, I might whine approximately no cap within the NFL. I feel it is been a quality factor and it might suck to peer my "fan owned" Green Bay Packers get the shaft. This is in which the road blurs for me...The Packers have NO proprietor.

The sae reason the Raiders suck to. There owners they are to involved. Also the Skins have spent to many years going after big name free agents that have ended up being busts. They have to many players who are underacheiving also. Sean Taylor for instance is having a poor year.

The main problem with the Redskins is their owner Daniel Snyder. He is a horrible owner, with a Napolean complex. It is downhill from there.

Because Snyder has not learned that to have a good team, it needs to be built not put together with washed up players.

Maybe now, he's learning. Campbell is getting bettered and they signed Betts. I say they will finish 5-11 this year.
