It can happen. Many people do not care what your sexuality is -- I know that right now it seems like they all do (I'm not sure why it seems that way unless you are from a fairly fundamentalist area) but really, many do not.
I am gay, I've never suffered any appreciable prejudice, and none from my family. My partner has never suffered any. The one time he got "jumped" it was by 5 guys who wanted his wallet. They got his wallet, but he hurt three of them and they ended up arrested because by the time they managed to beat him down enough to get his wallet, MANY witnesses had gathered. I think they were more surprised that he fought back against five than anything else -- but their testimony was plenteous.
I do know boys however who have suffered prejudice, and I'm sorry that it has happened to you. *hug* Terribly sorry.
Please don't think about killing yourself, believe it or not life can be, and will be a good thing for you once you get away from where you are.
If you want to talk, email me. Let me figure out where you are, and let's talk about where you could go for college that will cure your problems.
I have included my email address in my signature block. It will all be alright, I swear.
*hugs*
Kindest thoughts,
Reynolds

Yes we should, but apparently we aren't because we are different...
Think a slave falling in love with her master... taboo (Beginning of time - 1900s)
Think a black falling in love with a white... taboo (1900s)
Think a Jew falling in love with a German... major taboo (Hitler era)
Today... think same-sex relationships... yeah, taboo... They don't kill us for it but they certainly make our lives a living hell...
But as every battle for equality was not won without a major upheaval in society, so will gay rights not be won if we don't keep on the fight.
One day, we will see a world that will no longer throw stones whenever we walk down the streets holding hands with our lovers.. But before that will happen, there is a battle that has to be won.
So don't give up, live your life well. Fight with us. Prove to them that you are a well-functioning and excellent member of society. That your gayness is not a hindrance, instead when you embrace it, it is a wellspring of your creativity.
And hey, no matter how the fundamentalists interpret the Bible, God loves you and you are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)

joey i feel sorry for you only because I've been through that already. my parents have had no part in my life since i was 16 and I'm now 42. don't let the people like the one above get you down. when your out on your own and find someone all that hate that is around you will disappear. you have a lot to live for and I'm sure you'll find that person that will make you know how special you really are

I'm trying man. Every day I fight the good fight to put an end to homophobia the world over. =)
Please don't ever hurt yourself or go into self-loathing over these freaks though. They're not worth it, they're not the ones with the power. YOU ARE. They're jealous of you. Whenever straight men see power they go crazy because they don't have any for themselves. So pity them more than anything.
Don't let them get you down...I know it's easier said then done, but if you look at them closely you'll see they're littered with insecurities. But they have nothing to do with you. So just enjoy your life and continue to do the things that make you happy.

Problem is from what I see, is that there are a lot of ignorant and socially uneducated people in the world that have nothing more to do but to try and hurt others because it makes them feel superior.

People tend to fear what they don't understand. Chalk it up to ignorance on their part. It doesn't excuse what they do and say. I want you to know that not all heterosexual people hate gays. I fight for and acknowledge gay rights. Please don't think about killing yourself, find a support group. I believe you should love whoever you want. Do not listen to unreasonable bible thumpers and haters, they are dissatisfied with their own lives and need to find a "cause" (as dubious as that sounds) to make themselves feel better. I am sorry you are feeling and experiencing such pain, don't lose hope.

"...To love and be loved, without hating ourselves for it."
There is a life for you out there, full of love and happiness. Don't let your father's insecurities about himself ruin your life. Keep focusing on the life you will have one day and how to get to it.
Freedom is coming, despite the efforts of the bigots. You should want to live to see it and be part of it.

Dorian V is absolutely right, you should be allowed to love who you please and you should love who you please. The first person who answered this is an example of the kind of attitude that makes everything wrong in the world. Don't listen to what others think, just be happy, you have every right to be.
