Some early childhood places want you to have at least the associates degree in early childhood care, some will take you without that under the condition that you get it while you are working. Preschools that are associated with regular schools will demand a Bachelors degree to teach and an associate degree to be an assistant.

Go ahead and call them. Don't be surprised if they want you to have a bachelors in early child development though. I'd at least try.
