I'm just curious to see what everyone else is looking for when they decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives.

I look for money, but I also look for a company where the culture closely matches my own. I look for one that is kinda laid-back, with fun people to work with.

The worse thing you can do is go to work in company that is restrictive to your personality and creativity.

I work in engineering as a roadway designer and I left my present company and went to a company that was very restrictive and I was miserable. I was getting ready to quit after 2 months when my old job called up and asked if I would come back... So here I am.

Most engineers wear dress shirts and some even wear ties, I wear levis and tee shirts and shave every 3 or 4 days. They accept me for who and what I am because of what I can do.

Alot of companied have very strict dress codes and you get in trouble if you do not follow them, and I sometimes feel that the inflexability hinders creativeness and many studies and compnies agree with that.

Hope this helps,

Eric

Most people just look for the highest paying thing they can get, then spend their days in missery at work. If they don't want to be misserable at work, the things they should look for are an opportunity where they can best use their individual strengths, and where their efforts will be appreciated.
