I switch on the PC? They were there when I turned on but vanished whilst I was reading my e-mails????

it is just removing your unused icons but it doesnt mean that it is gone..

There should be a double-arrow on the left side of the icons. Click that and they will all appear again. To turn off this feature, right click on your taskbar (beside the icons) and then click Properties. Uncheck the box at the bottom that says "Hide Inactive Icons."

The PC auto hides the inactive icons, click the arrow pointing left to reveal them. Also right click the start button and go to properties and change the settings if you dont want to hide them

Right click on the toolbar on the bottom and open "properties. Then proceed to see if the icons are hidden or you can set them up as hidden, show, or hidden if inactive.

dont worry about it...type in msconfig in run to add it back if you want
