I have a T-reg VW Passat Estate and I need to get a replacement part for the boot, but I don't know what it's called so can't do a search! The 2 cylinder type things that hold the boot up and make a whooshing sound. Sorry to be such a girl about this - but can anyone tell me what they are called??? Help! My boot keeps falling on my head, so replacement bits would be a great idea.

they are called boot struts or some people call them tailgait struts.
quite pricey from vw dealers so try an independant auto store or even your local scrapyard.
hope this helps.
