i love colored. that' what we had when i was a kid,but i just think that all the colors bouncing off of the ornaments and the garland makes the tree look so much more alive.

I like both. Colored lights are fun whereas clear lights are elegant. It depends on what look you're going for. I had a fiber optic tree for the last 5 or so years that had colored lights, and would look odd with clear lights. It has a non-kiddie look to it.

However some decorating schemes call for clear lights and colored lights would look out of place with them.

Colors create all sorts of cool shadows on the ceiling when you turn off the other lights in the room, and reflect off of the ornaments on the tree. It's supposed to be festive and fun, right?

I have no idea why a Christmas tree needs to be elegant.

I prefer colored lights for my Christmas tree, then for the outside of the house I prefer the white lights.

I, personally enjoy the clear, white lights instead of the colored ones. I think that the colored ones are nice, but they look kind of tacky and used up. Clear lights are so elegant and beautiful in my opinion.. especially outside in the snow.. a glow just radiates off of them.

Both have benefits. I've had colored lights as long as I can remember, but this year we've got white and I love it! Just don't put both on a tree.

It's definitely personal choice, but I prefer multi-colored lights for my tree. I also use mult-colored lights wound with garland hung over all my mantles, and framing my windows inside. Outside I have white lights throughout the trees and bushes, with multi-colored lights and yard ornaments accenting it all.

I am not sure what a xmas tree is...but if you are referring to a Christmas tree...we use clear...just enough twinkle without the ornaments having to fight for attention.

Colored. Makes it look more festive in my opinion.
My tree is done in red, blue, green, yellow and orange.
I do however have clear lights wrapped around my banister with garland and it looks really pretty.
