My parents have the same problem with their Windstar. The microswitches for the contacts of the door and door jam many times become corroded and/or caked in grease or other material. What you should do is remove the contact plates on the door and door jam, clean them up really good with a non-corrosive degreaser, and then put just a little bit of lubrication back on them and see if that solves the problem.

On the side of the door, right where it closes between the door's edge and the pillar behind the front door, there is a contact there. Use an emery board or light sandpaper and clean the contacts. That's where I would start. I was thinking that it was the slider door, sorry. It probably is in the latch on that one. Sorry for the bad info! I'm a dummie! lol

I have. It is an electronic error. There are sensors on your door. Maybe it is broken. As stated before, take it to the dealer ASAP.
