The basic procedure for burning DVDs from any computer is pretty much the same. You collect together the video you want to record in some compatible digital format (AVI, MPG, or some other format - you may need a way of getting that video into your computer using USB/Firewire or whatever) and put them in a spot on your hard drive. You need DVD formatting software that knows how to create a DVD image and a compatible DVD recorder. Point the software at your collection of video and use the tools provided to make up menus and such. Once you have that, pop in a blank DVD and record.

In your specific case, you said you have 'PowerDVD' and a DVD player. That software is not recording software. Cyberlink makes a package called 'DVD Suite' that you might like or there are many others. Your drive also has to be a DVD recorder. It may not be, and if not, you're SOL.

So first, do you have a DVD recorder? If so, pick some recording/formatting software and have fun!

PowerDVD is only a DVD player program and not a burner program. Make sure your DVD drive is a DVDR spec. DVD drives are only capable of playing DVDs, you require a DVD-R to burn.

Nero, Roxio are names of programs that are usually bundled with DVD-R drives that allow you to burn.

You need a DVD burner, not just a player. PowerDVD only plays DVDs anyway. Try DIKO, it's cheap and works very well.

You just plug your DVD player through that and into USB then just use an Editor to copy it to a .avi file...I own the product and it works for me great, the picture is white but it is actually black.
