I am a 5 foot 1 inch, 40 year old male, and have not got much of a social life since I have trouble making friends due to my short height.

Is anybody aware of any websites or other place where 'short people' like myself can get in touch with each other or network with each other to share experiences of being short?

Thanks

I know what you are going through. I just turned 40 this past August and I am only 5'2".
You are a good person, and it does not matter how tall you are. Just believe in yourself and work on the talents you were given by God.
You can do anything you want with your life, you just have to believe it. Life is really what we make of it. I know it is not easy, but the world is made up of people of different heights, we must celebrated our differences. If you take interest in others, they will like you no matter how tall or short you are. Be a good friend and nothing else will matter. We need to care about each other, no matter how we look like, true friends only care that we are nearby, to share in our lives. Men need to learn to be better friends to each other and take care of each other and not hurt each other. I hope you find real friends, that will enrich your life to the fullest. The pressure to be tall as a man is not right, you cannot help it if you are short, just be the best person you can be. Cultivate a positive attitude and the rest will take care of itself.

There's nothing wrong with your height, so stop blaming that for your trouble in making friends. Look at the late Dudley Moore - he never had any trouble dating women. Tom Cruise is short too. Just try and concentrate on your personality. When you go out, put a nice smile on your face and talk to the people you meet. Ask them about themselves - their jobs, interests, etc. I've been out with lots of short men - my husband wasn't very tall either. Remember that the 'nicest things come in small packages'. All the best.

I worked with one of the top, and I mean top, neurosurgeons in the world. His name is Jean Paul Spire. Because he is from French ancestry and also tres short he was often ridiculed. I have no idea why people seem to have such issues with length, height, foot size and even forehead size. They even nick named him Napoleon for Gods sake. He over compensated by being a prick a lot of times but he was/is one of the best neurosurgeon in the whole world. World renowned. If you got to know him he was a "real" person. Moral of story - height doesn't matter, it's what is in your heart first and then what you do with yourself after.

It is all very well for me to talk I suppose but I think it is more to do with personality that size. I know short people who, as far as I can tell, have a normal social life

I have just done a search and came across a link to a website:

It has an online forum where you can chat with other short people...It also has a website link specifically for dating (second weblink). All the best :)

Short stature defienately causes trouble in the nature of respect. People don't respect what they do not fear and if they do not fear you they do not behave normally, becuase they do not have to.

3 things give repect:

*Height
*Ugliness
*A Gang

Mutual respect is needed to make relationships.

I am 5'6. Why do you need friends for?

Being short does not stop your life, neither does being tall! being tall is also hard.

Life live as you choose, go out forget about your height and see what happens.
