Compassion in the right place or used long enough on the right people can bring about change. Some people rely on the compassion of others when they need it (homeless, troubled individuals) this can, in turn, bring about change. But some people can also resist compassion and deem it a weak trait. Whichever the case, be sure the recipient of your compassion actually wants it, otherwise there might be an uncomfortable situation.

That is the entire teaching of the Buddha scriptures. Being compassionate will bring you the most rewards in life. It will raise your life to levels you did not know existed. In today's society where is everyone is thinking of themselves first, those of us who are genuinely compassionate will reap the rewards of our efforts to think of others before us, just as surely as those who think otherwise will reap the benefits of their actions. Be compassionate to even the smallest creature you come across because the law of cause and effect works the same for everyone.

Maybe - it depends on what's going on. But being compassionate is so beautiful...and it will make you feel good for doing all you could for someone. :)
