I wouldn't call her a bimbo by any stretch of the imagination. Remember, Tricia McMillan was a physicist, and was the brain of the bunch. She was able to fly the Heart of Gold when no one else could. She was unemployed on Earth, if I remember right, and thought it would be much better to explore the galaxy than remain on Earth, so when she was confronted with someone who was literally "out of this world," she decided to take a chance.

I take it that you are refering to only the movie, and that you didn't read the books.
The character in the books is just a human that happen to be fortunate enough to already be traveling in space... someone for Arthur to connect with. The word you are looking for, would not apply to her.
The word you want for the movie character is ditsy smart?
