People are often different in person than they are online, so do you think it's possible that if any of the people here who are normally at each other's throats met that they would get along?

Yes, I think many of us would get along. It's not like we walk around with "conservative" or "liberal" stamped on our foreheads.
I've already discovered that many of the liberals on here are a LOT nicer than they seem to be.
I hope that liberals have found the same thing with many of the conservatives on here.

Of course, there are exceptions. Some of the conservatives and liberals that present themselves as being total jerks really ARE.

Most would get along on the surface. People tend to be more polite in person. It's kind of funny though, how you can often tell who's having a really rotten day on here.

For Sure....That is what is wrong with the world today. Technology has made people lazy and less friendly. Tech has made life where you can sit at home/office and correspond with pretty much anybody you want to without having to get the personal aspect of meeting face to face. I sincerely believe that that takes alot out of a relationship.Shaking someones hand and looking into there eyes tells you a lot about someone !!

It depends on whether the have the ability to respect each others opinions. There are a few people one here who, although we are polar opposites politically, are actually really nice people personally. There are some on here who are bitter and petty who I would have no interest in meeting, but political opinion is just one aspect of the composition of the whole person.

I am who I say I am - no obscure screen name - and my opinions are my own.

Probably. Especially if the gathering has nothing to do with politics; people go cold-blooded when they're passionate about an issue. Outside that, I'm sure many are real nice guys and women.

I am an anomaly. What I appear to be is what I am in reality. As one who shuns new meetings and social gatherings, it is academic, but I am what I am. Like me or don't like me, makes no difference to me.

I think some would enjoy the meeting, and some would probably be better served wearing body armor. :) About like any other social situation, people of like minds tend to stick together. A natural human behavior.

YES
And some who appear to like each other on-line would undoubtedly find nothing in common if they met in person.

I'm sure they would.

People are a lot more reasonable, and less prone to petty arguments, in person. This is probably because in person, there's a lot more non-verbal communication, and because we aren't meeting with the intent to argue.
