Does a can of coke or a can of diet coke float in water? why does one float and the other sink in water?

Normal coke is denser than diet because it has several ounces of sugar dissolved. If it sinks or not depends in the weight of metal in the can and the volume of gas in the can.

I just can imagine that it happens because one of them is filled with liquid and the other one is empty and sealed.
