I have a laptop that has a wireless card in it. My landlord set up a wireless LAN for the house. I had to restore my computer, but now I can't use the LAN. It connects to it (I had to enter the network key the first time). It automatically connects and says the connection is excellent. However, my internet explorer won't work. I took my laptop to school and it works fine with the school's wireless connection. Also, there is a school by where I live w/wireless that I can connect to, but my own wireless won't work. If the connection is excellent, why won't explorer work? I have windows XP. I haven't installed any additional protection because I haven't even got my explorer running again. The computer has a firewall built-in but it doesn't even help when I turn it off. Any suggestions?

What’s landlord's router brand and model? What’s your signal strength and noise? If distance could be a factor try changing channels in router to higher frequency (number). It could also be interaction from some electrical device. Beside see this:

Take the computer downstairs and word if it connects. If it does there must be some obstruction to the signal out of your router to the upstairs. i think you could also take between the laptops upstairs to ensure if it truly works there. If the computer works upstairs, you possibly opt for a sparkling community adapter or diverse drivers.
