By the Way...we are allowed to use internet and book to get answers on homework, as long as we understand the process. Therefore I am not cheating! In case anyone ASSumes that.

y=6x-40
Using points (8,8)
we substitute 8=6(8)-40
8=48-40
8=8

Using points (12,32)
We substitute 32=12(6)-40
32=72-40
32=32

All the linear equations given were calulated and only y=6x-40 worked for all the points given.

The answer is C. Plug in your X's into the equation. Once x is solved, it gives you Y.

y=6(8)-40
y=48-40
y=8
(8,8)

y=6(12)-40
y=72-40
y=32
(12,32)

Use x = 8 in A, B, C & D; if you get y = 8 then use x = 12 in those equations. If you get y = 32, there is your answer.

C, plug in the x value and see if the y value comes out right for both.
