Check out www.uti.edu. This is a great school from what I have heard and I have had two friends graduate from there and got excellent jobs. They offer all kinds of programs. One of my friends went for engine work, while the other went for body work. They are into import cars and fixing them up, so if that is something of interest too, they can help.

Check out some of the state schools for an associates degree in autho mechanics.

To work on cars, you need hands on experience apart from theoretical knowledge. Check with some community or vocational colleges and they may be offering such courses!
