She, the claimant, died in the 1980s. DNA testing was primitive back then. There is also suspision that her DNA samples were swapped by a doctor. So, sorry to burst your bubble everyone above, but the DNA results cannot be trusted, so we'll never be sure! Some people who knew the real Anastasia, like her helper, a childhood friend, and a handful of members of the family actually believed her. She was found with multiple scars on her body, including on her foot, and these people claimed that the scars and foot problem were identical to the real Anastasia. They also asked her trick questions, and she answered correctly all the time. She also made references to things like rituals, games and pet names from her childhood, which were highly accurate. She could not have known all of these on her own. She was also fluent in English and French, something which would have been impossible if she was a factory worker. There was a court case which dragged on until 1970 but there was no verdict reached- she was neither Anastasia nor NOT Anastasia for sure.

My answer would be: it is possible but we'll never be certain. Although DNA tests revealed no match to Prince Philip or the bones found in 1991, we could never be sure that the samples provided were really Anna Anderson's. She was cremated in 1984, so a rematch will not be possible. But she knew intimate things and she had scars which matched descriptions of the attack on the Romanovs, and how do we explain this? Either she was really who she said she was, or she was incredibly intelligent, or she had inside knowledge (but where did she get it?). Nevertheless, it will always intrigue some.

No. She was completely phoney. It was thought that the entire Romanov family had been murdered in Yketeriburg, Siberia, in 1918, but rumours started that one of the five children, Anastasia, had survived. Anna Anderson had many supporters but she never won the recognition she was after, and died in 1984. However, while she was alive no one ever proved she was not Anastasia.

This all changed in the 1990s when science was set to finally answer the question of Anna's true identity. Before she died Anderson had had an operation to resect her lower intestine, and a sample had been preserved. This sample was obtained and the DNA tested.

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, shares his DNA with Anastasia's mother and all of her children. A comparison of his DNA with hers proved finally that Anna Anderson was not Anastasia. In fact, further tests showed that she was Franziska Schanzkowska, a Polish factory worker who disappeared in 1920.

None of this is open to speculation: "Anderson's" claim that she was Anastasia was a blatant, criminal fraud. She was not Anastasia, she knew that, but she made a stonking huge amount of money selling the story that she was. Be nice to know where that money is now.

While she knew some things, she got other things wrong when questioned so she was always questioned about her 'true' identity.
She was also heard speaking Polish - a language that the Grand Duchesses of Russia did not know.
DNA tests revealed her to be of Polish descent, not even Russian, and thus not Anastasia.

No, Anastasia was murdered along with the rest of the Russian Royal Family. The manner in which the bodies were disposed of, little wonder Anastasia's was never found.

No, she was a phoney. Prince Philip would have had some DNA in common with her if she had been genuine and the test proved that he didn't, so she wasn't Anastasia at all.

No; I think it was disproven by DNA tests between her and relatives of Anastasia.

DNA proved that she was not. Although because of all the facts she knew about the family that ordinary people wouldn't it can be presumed that she was the child of a servant living closely witht he family before the executions.
