Well, for me that depends. Are you a real African? Like born in Africa? Then sure why not. But if you are an American and you are black then no. My experience has shown me that black Americans don't really care for real Africans too much so I'm always wondering why there is a desire to imitate them with dress. That would be like me wearing Bavarian garb around here when I'm not from Germany. My ancestors are.

I wear my native clothes on special occasions. If people ask I will tell them. I personally find it's not practial to wear native African clothes everyday where I live basically because the wether is too cold.

Yes, if it is important to you. There are cultural heritages that is important to keep the history of their ancestors present and there are also subcultures, in which we live in today. It is also important to keep the present subcultures, in which we live going. It is how we unite as a people instead of dividing. The area in which we live, is our subculture. For instance, the town, city or suburb is our subculture. Some things are acceptable in certain communities, and some things are not acceptable. IF we live within our subculture to show respect and keep peaceful relations we must not do things to offend the members within the subculture. So I would say, we should carefully examine what is important to ourselves and what is important to those around us. We should make decisions based on that.

You could, but WHY?? As the old saying goes, When in America, do what the Americans do. Be proud and talk about your culture, but there's no need to dress the part.

I think everyone should be proud of their heritage and if wearing the traditional clothing is how someone would want to express that, I am all for it.

I think it's insulting to host countries - you're basically saying "here I am and I don't care about your culture, habits, fashion, style, anything." How do you feel when people come to your country and don't care about your habits there? When they come and rub their culture in your face? I generally learn more from open-minded people who accept my culture and let me accept theirs, and I avoid those aggressive types who come to another country and arrogantly pretend they're still in their village and demand to be respected for it.
