You missed a good bit. He goes back to Alabama. Jenny comes to see him. They have sex. She takes off again. He then runs from one coast of the United States to the other. Years later, Jenny contacts him and he goes to see her in Savannah, Ga. (this is where he has been talking to everyone. He is waiting on the bus to take him to her house.) At this point the story becomes current. He goes to Jenny's apartment. He meets her son who turns out to be Forrest's kid. Jenny tells Forrest that she has a virus and he offers to take care of her. (it is never said but believed to be AIDS). The move back to Alabama and Forrest and Jenny get married, Jenny dies and Forrest buries her by the tree that they played as kids. The movie ends with Forrest getting little Forrest on the bus for school...

His wife dies of AIDS. The final scene is Forrest seeing his little boy get on the bus for school. If I recall, it's the same bus driver who was driving the bus when Forrest went to school many years before. Forrest is left at the curb, I think he says he'll wait right here for the kid to get back and a feather floats by to continue the theme that life is just a fragile thing floating back and forth by the winds and changes of living.
Or something like that.

Considering how most have told you such Blah Blah Blah.
You should really watch this movie. I love this movie. It's my second fav all time movie.
After his mom dies, he does get the farm house. Jenny comes back to stay with him and they end up making a baby just he doesn't know it at the time. Nor does she. That is when he starts doing the walking thing and running across america. She's see him on the t.v. and writes him a letter. He quits running, goes to see her. When he gets to the apartment he see's that she has a son. He asks what his name is and she says his name is Forest. and then tells him that it's his son. she has cancer or some sickness and she asks him to get married so that when she died little Forest could be with him, big forest. At the very end she dies and if i am not mistaken it shows them at her grave at the very end.
good good movie. Watch it again all the way through.

Most of the film is after he finishes in the army. Bubba dies, Jenny dies, his mother dies. He gets rich from the bubba shrimp business, he finds Jenny and realises he has a son. He runs all the way across america. He helps the leiutenant have a better life because he was all depressed and an alcoholic.

He went back home and made a lot of money be endorsing someones paddle (table tennis bat)Then kept his promise to Bubba and bought a shrimp boat with Lieutenant Dan and made his fortune. Then his mom got sick so he nursed her till she died. Then he went and found his Jenny and discovered he was a father to "Little Forest".Jenny was also sick so he nursed her until she died and he was left to bring up forest on his own. And yes even though I've seen it before i still cried.
It has very strong memories for me this film, as i went the first time to see it with my mother, who passed two years ago.We went to our local cinema one Winter afternoon and there was myself and mam and about half a dozen other people in the cinema. My mother thoroughly enjoyed it and when we left the cinema it had started to snow and we "skidded" all the way home."Happy Days"

Who cares tbh - I read the Guardian's article on this movie when it first came out.
They hated it. They said it teaches Americans the idea that you can have success and fame and be anything you want - without even trying/studying. Terrible film.
I think he jogged for years - invented the Smilie - started a trend with thousands of fanboys running with him - then he had a heart attack and died.
